Market & Johnson Adds Two To Business Development Team

(September 2016) Market & Johnson is excited to announce the hiring of James Hanke and Brandon O’Connell as Business Development Representatives. James and Brandon will assist the Market & Johnson team in securing new construction projects while building relationships with key business leaders. They will become actively engaged within the community as well as key industry associations. James will focus on the industrial and manufacturing markets while Brandon concentrates on the medical, educational, and retail markets for Market & Johnson.

James Hanke is a longtime resident of the Chippewa Valley and resides in Eau Claire. He has a bachelor’s degree in World Politics from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master’s certification in Community and Economic Development from Penn State. Prior to joining Market & Johnson, James spent over six years as the manager of economic development and community services at Xcel Energy. James takes an active interest in the community and has been involved in the Confluence Project, The Children’s Museum of Eau Claire, the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic and Community Table. James has also served as a board member or advisor to a number of economic development organizations in the region, including service as the Board Chair for Momentum West, a regional economic development organization serving ten counties in western Wisconsin.

Brandon O’Connell comes to Market & Johnson with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Real Estate Property Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Upon graduating from Stout in 2012, Brandon spent four years with Mid-America Real Estate-Minnesota as a commercial property manager located in Minneapolis. As a property manager for Mid-America, Brandon managed a portfolio of over 600,000 square feet of retail real estate. Brandon served on the program and newsletter committees for the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA) and was a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Brandon holds a Minnesota Salesperson’s license and was an active member of the Big Brother Big Sisters organization in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Market & Johnson Pledges $250,000 to the Confluence Arts Center

(March 2015) Market & Johnson will donate $250,000 to the Confluence Project’s performing arts center’s fundraising campaign. Their announcement was made at a presentation at the building site in downtown Eau Claire at noon on Monday (March 30). Market & Johnson, an Eau Claire-based construction company, is one of the partners in Haymarket Concepts. The company is the construction manager for Haymarket Landing, the mixed use building under construction on the Confluence Project site.

“Market & Johnson has been a proud and an actively engaged partner in the Confluence Project since the project’s inception,” said Jerry Shea, president of the company. “We consider this contribution to be an investment in our community. The performing arts center will do much toward making Eau Claire a destination place in our region.

“Our entire company is committed to deliver a complete project that will reinvigorate downtown Eau Claire, helping provide it with a signature facility that will make our city proud.”

Market & Johnson was founded in 1948. The company has been an important participant in Eau Claire’s development for more than 65 years – as a builder and a philanthropist.

Philanthropy is one part of the fundraising target for the $40 million arts center. The community awaits action from the state in response to the governor’s budget request for $15 million for the arts center project. The state’s funding will require a local match.

About the Confluence Project

The Confluence Project is a public/private partnership engaged in a $65 million downtown redevelopment project in Eau Claire. The major component in the project is a regional arts center. The arts center will be used by community arts organizations and UW-Eau Claire, and will be the region’s venue for touring and local stage theatrical and musical performance events.The $13.5 million in philanthropic giving that aims to be raised by the Confluence Campaign will be applied to help build the regional arts center, planned to open autumn, 2018.


Kevin Dallas Promoted to Project Manager

(August 2012) Market & Johnson is pleased to announce the promotion of Kevin Dallas from project superintendent to project manager. Kevin joined Market & Johnson in 1995 as a carpenter apprentice and has worked as project manager/superintendent since 1998. Kevin has an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering/Structural Technology from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management with a Minor in Business Administration from UW-Stout in Menomonie, WI. Kevin will be responsible for estimating, budgeting and bidding for Market & Johnson, as well as handling all scheduling and direct oversight of all contractors and tradesman activities for his assigned projects. Juel Market inducted into 2012 Business Hall of Fame

(June 2012) Juel Market, Market & Johnson, was inducted into the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2012 Business Hall of Fame. Also inducted were John William Carroll of Dolly Madison Dairies/ Marigold Foods, Mel Cohen of National Presto Industries, Ellis Huntzinger of Silver Spring Foods/ Huntzinger Farms and Johannes Walter of Walter’s Brewery

The Business Hall of Fame award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their business and the community. There are two types of awards - a Business Hall of Fame for individuals from the previous fifty (50) years from the current year and a Historical Business Hall of Fame for any period prior to the last fifty (50) years.

Market & Johnson Announces Three New Owners to the Firm

(January 2012) Market & Johnson is pleased to announce the addition of three new owners in the firm. Effective January 2012, Mike Seichter, Kevin Renley, and Jason Plante will join the current ownership team of Dan Market, Jerry Shea, and Matt Faulkner. Mike Seichter has been with Market & Johnson for over 20 years. He was Market & Johnson’s first employee in the La Crosse area over 16 years ago and continues to help in the oversight of that office. In addition to his project management duties, he is part of the La Crosse business development team where he assists in developing new client relationships within the La Crosse community. Kevin Renley has been with Market & Johnson for 10 years and is a Senior Project Manager out of our La Crosse office. A UW-Madison graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Kevin is a LEED Accredited Professional, registered by the State of Wisconsin as a Professional Engineer and is ASHE Certified for Healthcare Construction. In addition to his project management duties, Kevin is an active member of our La Crosse business development team. Jason Plante has been primarily involved in supporting the company’s move from a pure competitive bid firm, to one that negotiates over 85% of its annual workload. Jason has also been involved in many leadership roles throughout his 11-year career as Director of Business Development for Market & Johnson. Besides being responsible for leading and overseeing the development of business opportunities for Market & Johnson, he is heavily involved in the community through service and community leadership.
